What is basically depression? And how it is caused? What are major factors of it?

Depression is a typical and genuine medicinal ailment that influences how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Luckily, it is likewise treatable and controllable as well. Depression or misery causes sentiments of pity or potentially lost interest that you once appreciated. It can prompt emotional and physical issues and can diminish a man’s capacity to work or function properly. It makes you mentally drained and frustrated.

It is generally very normal to feel sad and despair in your life changing events. Such event could be stress, life loss, or disappointment.  In most cases, you feel miserable and believe that there is no way out of this depression.

Depression is the worst situation that drops down your energy and make you feel drained. It leaves you unconfident and makes everything difficult to handle. Not only limited to that but it also stops you to take the steps that can help you to feel recovered. It stops you to get better! However, overcoming depression is not that easy and quick, but it isn’t impossible or you can say it’s far from impossible. It’s not instant! But you have to take the initiative and follow some steps to lessen your depression and anxiety. You can’t just sit and it will happen on its own. You have more control on yourself then you realize—even if your depression is severe and stubbornly determined. The goal is to take small and effective steps and build from there. Indeed! Feeling better and normal requires time. It is easy when you are positive about it and put your hundred percent efforts each day.

There are some physical activities and other medical treatments that can help to overcome your depression. However, you can also find the solution in some Best books on depression and anxiety. Whereas, changing you behavior doesn’t always require some major steps and treatments. It can be done by taking some simple and easy to do steps, such as:

  1. Managing your daily Routine: when in depression the first thing you can do is to manage your routine. Depression can destroy the structure of your life and will lead you towards more stressful state. If you can set up your routine and manage your daily tasks you can easily help yourself in getting back on the track.
  2. Establish Goals: In times of depression you feel that you can’t accomplish anything in life. That definitely makes you feel unwanted and foulest. To be motivated, set up your daily goals and work on them. Trust me! You can ace it.
  3. Stay connected to love ones: Getting supports from loved ones plays vital role in overcoming stress and depression. Support from loved ones makes you feel you are covered with an emotional armor and is protected from all the negativity. Sometimes, you might feel exhausted or ashamed to talk about your situation. You may feel guilty for neglecting the relationships you once cared for and you feel that is because of depression. But staying away won’t help you, it’s better to stay connected and talk about your depression. The ones who loves you will never leave you alone at any stage of life. You will always have their back! However, reaching out doesn’t mean you are weak. It mean you still value people and consider them important. Even if at any stage of life you feel that you don’t have anyone, not a problem! Make new friends, build new relations and take a new start. But make sure that you are connected to positive people and improvise your support network.
  4. Get involved in things that makes you feel good: In order to overcome depression, it better to follow a lifestyle you like. Do things that makes you feel energized and relaxed. That will definitely help you managing your anxiety and drops down your stress level. Don’t think that you cannot have fun just because you have experienced situations that caused depression. Push yourself to do things that makes you feel happy! Even if you are not able to cope up from depression, you will, slowly and gradually. Make time to do things that excites you.
  5. Healthy Eating: Eating good and healthy boost up your mood and makes you feel refreshed. It is better if you reduce unhealthy eating habits that can affect your mind and body negatively, such as: Alcohol (at the time of severe depression), caffeine, fattening food, food that contain high level of chemical preservatives. Instead eat food that will help you overcome dejection such as; vegetables, high fiber or citrus fruits, intake of vitamins (folic acid that contains B vitamin), fish oil supplements, beans, greens, eggs, chicken, fish etc.
  6. Interact with Sunlight: Sit in sun to reduce depression! Yes, I am not kidding! You know why? Because according to the studies when our body is exposed to sun it produces certain type of hormone known as serotonin. This hormone helps to improve your mood. It doesn’t mean that you have to sit under sun for hours merely because you want to decrease the level of depression. Just sit for 15 minutes a day! And see the results.
  7. Say bye-bye to negative thinking: Most of the time you feel feeble and powerless. Things happen and you were not able to do much about it at that time. Depressing? Indeed! But it’s not that end of the world. It is understandable that depressions puts the negative revolution on everything, including:  the way you see others and yourself. However, whenever you are surrounded by negative thoughts, remember one think that symptoms of your depression are unenthusiastic and illogical known to be Cognitive Distortions– which are unrealistic. Rather than being negative, replace them with positive thinking. Naive and specious ways of thinking works as a fuel to depression. You need to question yourself. Are these thoughts important? No? Right! As soon as you cross-examine your undesirable and bad thoughts, you may be astonished at how quickly they crumble. In this process, you’ll develop a more balanced perception and help to release your depression.
  8. Get up! Keep moving: Get up and go out, take a deep breath and explore the nature and get some fresh air. Leave the place you are in right now, physically! Walk around for a few minutes. Your depression and anxiety is mainly connected from getting caught up inside your head. The easiest way is to break the pattern and set yourself free. Put yourself in a different space and divert your mind from negativity. It will work amazingly!
  9. Pray: Out of all the things you try to decrease your depression. Prayer is on the top! Prayer is a chat session with God where you can speak about your issues and worries to Him. He will surely give you relief from all the depression and will make that you feel better. He says in Psalm 55:22: “Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you;
    He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
    ” Praying gives you hope and helps you while struggle with depression.

Overcoming depression seems difficult, but everything is POSSIBLE in this world. All you need is WILL. It’s not wrong if I would motivate you by saying: “If there’s a will, there’s a way.” Believe in yourself!
